SSK is licensed by Alexander Arms to manufacture firearms, upper units and barrels for the 6.5 Grendel cartridge.  The 6.5 Grendel is simply a 6 PPC cartridge with the shoulder moved forward slightly, opened to 6.5 MM and throated to utilize the full length of the M-16 magazine.  The loaded cartridge is the same over all length as the 5.56.  It is useful in the M-16, AR-15, Contender, Encore and a variety of bolt action firearms.  SSK offers a wide variety of uppers and complete guns for this and numerous other cartridges.  Call for up to date prices and information.  (740-264-0176)

Initially developed as a military-law enforcement cartridge to provide different and better ballistics than the 5.56  it offers factory ammunition in four varieties, at least two being  suitable for hunting purposes. Factory ammunition gave the following velocities with excellent uniformity in my guns.
 

Note the 6.5 JDJ in a 14” barreled Contender with the 129 SST gave 2470 FPS for those interested in a hunting cartridge in the Contender.  In the AR rifles the 5.56 bolt and magazine cannot be used.  For Alexander Arms claims for the cartridge see  www.alexanderarms.com however in short it is claimed to have superior  ballistics than the 7.62 NATO with outstanding accuracy, light recoil and about twice the projectile mass of the 5.56 and possessing excellent accuracy characteristics.
